Boston Doctor Completed Advanced MWA Training at Columbia Thyroid Center

We are excited to share that Dr. Thurston Drake, Chief of Endocrine Surgery at Boston Medical Center and Associate Professor of Surgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, has recently completed the Microwave Ablation (MWA) Observational Course at the Columbia Thyroid Center in New York City. The course was led by Dr. Jennifer Kuo, Director of the Interventional Endocrinology Program and Program Director of the Endocrine Surgery Fellowship Program at Columbia University’s Department of Surgery.

The course combined didactic sessions, live case observations, and hands-on practice with a thyroid phantom, providing Dr. Drake with a comprehensive understanding of MWA technology and its clinical applications for thyroid nodules. Through close collaboration with Dr. Kuo, Dr. Drake explored advanced techniques to enhance the precision, safety, and efficacy of MWA procedures, furthering his expertise in minimally invasive treatments.

This milestone underscores a continued commitment to advancing innovation in endocrine surgery and improving patient care through education and technology.
